I saw that on the news last night and was so pissed off with the teacher. She should have her license revoked.

I agree. How could the state let her still teach? Never mind that the school board did not suspend her. This is against the ADA, and I hope the parents are able to do something about it.

She wasn't suspended? *brain explode*

I really hope public outcry gets her removed from teaching. This story was on CNN yesterday along with my local news. I hope the parents can get something done about it. There is no excuse for abusing a child like that.

I agree, there is no excuse. What was this woman even thinking? Maybe she's not an ESE teacher, but still. If she could not handle having an autistic student, she needed to go through proper channels, not ridicule him in front of the whole class this way. Autistic children are not 'bad' kids, they just don't understand how to act in certain situations, and they are also very intelligent. This is just appaling and I hope the family does find some sort of way to have this be dealt with.

We had a kindergarten teacher in my state on the news tonight. She was verbally abusive to a student. Told him she was through with him and that he was stupid among other horrid things.

He told his parents, they sent in a digital recorder with him and got her on it berating their child. This moron is not suspended but has been removed from a teaching position.

What is up with teachers?

WTF?!

My husband is a teacher, and he felt that this was just horribly wrong. Seriously, I know we need teachers...but at what cost? Quailty over quantity, seriously!

I discussed this with my younger daughter. She's studying to be a band director at the high school level. She thinks the system needs a bit of an overhaul. All of her classes so far have stressed this sort of behavior from a teacher is not acceptable.

I agree with you and your husband.

I agree with your daughter. It really does need an overhaul, and a nation wide one. This is just not right.

Yeah, I read about this the other day on DK ... absolutely disgusting! I think Keith Olbermann even picked up the news. This teacher needs to lose her job.

I agree with you. Why is she still teaching? To single out any student in this manner--autistic or not--is horribly wrong.
